I used to feel like I was a victim of the universe! It wasn't till much later in life, like the last 9 years, that I realized that I was not a victim at all. It took ALL the things that happen in my past to get me to where I am today.
Some people don't like who I have become or who I am still in the process of becoming and it's okay. I don't want to be EVERYONES cup of tea. Today, I have a voice, I have an opinion, still might not mean shit to anyone, but I have one and I am finding the courage to use that voice.
For so long I had a soft heart and I would do anything for anyone because I felt the need to be loved and accepted. Don't get me wrong, I still do have a soft heart. I am just more selective of the people that it goes toward. Today I will cut ties, burn bridges like a Rambo movie and not look back for a second guess.
So when I am asked if there is anything that I would go back and change, I honestly answer, "No" because if I go back and change any one thing I wouldn't be who I am right now in this very moment. The good, the bad and the ugly, it is all part of who I am right now. I sometimes get asked, if I could be anyone else, who would it be and why? Before that answer would have been ANYONE other than myself. But today, I wouldn't want to be anyone else. That changed when I stopped seeing myself as a victim of the universe and started becoming the person I want be.
You want the secret to my change of mind, my change of heart and my change of thinking? My husband is the reason for that change. He is the first man, besides my grandfather, to love me unconditionally the way that I am. It's the bond I have with him that has progressively brought about the change in my life. I had to go through a lot of shit to get to him and for that I wouldn't trade a single ounce of it.
